Caterina Taurelli Salimbeni is an independent curator and writer, based in Rome. Her poetics, manifested through exhibitions and editorial projects, focuses on the processes underlying the creation of identity, exploring and fielding artistic research as a space for escape and discussion of the terms of the present society. Interested in the marginal places and their narrative potential, she conceives the curatorial practice as an expanded field with porous boundaries, through which contemporary fruition protocols can be transformed into situated and autonomous practices. During her professional experience, she has collaborated with various cultural institutions in Venice, Cape Town, Rome and Milan. From 2019 to 2022 she was Chief Art Curator of Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence, where she conceived and directed NAM – Not A Museum, an experimental center for contemporary art and multidisciplinary research, with particular attention to the new generations of artists. In 2021 she creates SUPERBLAST, an artist-in-residence project for which she curates the program, exhibitions and publications. She has edited several catalogs and written essays for NERO, Manifattura Tabacchi and Museo Novecento; she writes regularly for Inside Art Magazine. Caterina specialized in Milan in Cultural Heritage Management at Bocconi University with a double degree in contemporary art and cinema at HEC Paris, integrating her training in Vancouver, San Diego, Shanghai and Budapest. She is currently working at the MACRO – Museum of Contempory Art of Rome.
